Persimmon Clementine Smoothie

in Vegetarian, Yummy Eats

Sometimes when I go grocery shopping I like to pick up one thing that I know nothing about.

Something that i’ve never even seen before.

So the other day when I saw these beautiful orange coloured apple-ish things, I knew an adventure was in my future.

Persimmons, I came to learn, are in fact a berry and are high in fibre.

Ripe persimmons can have an almost honey like taste and can be eaten raw (hachiya) or roasted.

Persimmons also have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects but be cautious of the sugar content, especially in dried fruits, as they are much more concentrated.

But don’t let the sugar content get you down; persimmons are terrific for helping to reduce blood pressure, liver and body detoxification and are natural energizers!

So what did I do with my new finds?

I added some clementines and made smoothies of course!

  • 2 tablespoons raw honey

  • Pinch Cinnamon

  1. Blend together and enjoy!

This smoothie is sure to impress anyone and everyone…. Pugs included!
